At Silber Psychological Services, we are committed to protecting your privacy. Information will not be shared with individuals or agencies without written parental authorization. The exception to this is when we are court ordered or we suspect physical or sexual abuse. We are legally bound to report such suspicions to the appropriate authorities.

Children have a right to confidentiality. Sometimes they discuss issues with their therapists which they are not ready to share with their parents. Some worry that they will be punished if their parents are informed about information shared. Confidentiality is important for children and teenagers so that they will be open and honest with their therapist. However, if they talk about plans for hurting themselves or others, then parents will be informed.
